🇲🇾 10 Foreign Nationals Detained During Penang Market Enforcement Operation

Malaysian authorities carried out a joint enforcement operation at the Cecil Street Market Hawker Centre in George Town, Penang, on June 6, resulting in the detention of 10 foreign nationals suspected of immigration and employment violations.

The operation was conducted between 9:00am and 11:00am by the local city council and immigration authorities. According to officials, those detained were suspected of either overstaying their visas or working without the required authorization.

The enforcement action focused on a popular hawker centre in Penang and forms part of ongoing efforts to monitor compliance with Malaysia's immigration and employment regulations.

Many countries around the world conduct immigration inspections, visa checks, and workplace enforcement operations. While policies and enforcement levels vary from country to country, foreign residents are generally expected to comply with local immigration and employment laws. We get told we are "racist" in the west if we want to have control over our borders. Yet the rest of the world enforces theirs strictly.

As Big Uncle always says: respect the local culture, follow local laws, and make sure your visa and work status are in order.
