Nigerian Man Arrested in Vietnam With 2kg of Meth and 2 Bricks of Heroin 🇻🇳 

A 43-year-old Nigerian national has been arrested in Ho Chi Minh City after allegedly being caught receiving a shipment containing 2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and two bricks of heroin.

According to Vietnamese authorities, the shipment was part of a suspected international drug trafficking operation moving narcotics from Laos into Vietnam. The drugs were reportedly concealed inside water heaters and electronic components before being shipped into the country.

Authorities first discovered the suspicious package at the Lao Bao International Border Gate in Quang Tri Province on August 5. Rather than simply stopping the shipment, investigators reportedly continued the operation in an effort to identify the intended recipient.

On August 9, police in Ho Chi Minh City arrested Izuchukwu Calistus Odionye, 43, a Nigerian national, as he arrived to collect the package.

According to his initial statement to authorities, Odionye had allegedly been hired to receive the drugs in Ho Chi Minh City and transport them onward to Hanoi.

The case has now been handed over to police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Vietnam takes drug trafficking extremely seriously, and foreigners living or traveling in the country should understand that getting involved with drugs—even as a courier or someone simply collecting a package—can have extremely serious consequences.
