π¨π»π³ VIETNAM: ANOTHER BANGLADESHI CAUGHT VIOLATING IMMIGRATION LAW
Vietnamese police are still picking up foreigners working and living in the country with no papers. The latest one is in Thai Nguyen.
The foreigner is Miah Shek Md Helal, a Bangladeshi national. Police say he had been working, eating, and staying at The Vinh Plywood Co. factory since 27 July with no valid residency documents. Immigration found him on 26 August. On 22 September, he was fined VND 35 million for staying in Vietnam more than a year without authorization, then put in an immigration facility while deportation was arranged.
The Vietnamese in the case is the factory director, Luong Van Vu. Police have charged him with organizing an illegal stay. They say he gave Helal the job and the bed, knowing Helal had no legal papers. Helal is the one being deported. Vu is the one facing criminal proceedings.
A separate case in August is actual fraud. Hung Yen police charged two foreigners with forging seals and documents: Sarkar Khayrul Hasan, 44, Bangladeshi, and Mohammed Hussen Ali, 37, Indian. Investigators say Hasan took the orders, and Ali produced the goods — fake Vietnamese university diplomas and certificates, sold to people who wanted paperwork for jobs or personal records.
One illegal stay and illegal job. One forged-document operation. Both recently, both with a Bangladeshi national in the file, and in the factory case, a Vietnamese boss now charged for facilitating it. Hanoi has been tightening checks on foreign workers and residency. These files are what that looks like on the ground.
